A remarkable movie that chronicles one of the most forgotten stories of the American Civil War. August 7, 1861 the Confederate Army took the entire city of Hampton, Virginia under siege. They burnt the city down to ash and embers, leaving very little evidence or archaeological artifacts to preserve the history of its’ existence.

However, the film seamlessly sews together the culmination of events that transpired after the incineration. These events would ultimately result in the ending of the Civil War, and the establishment of two of the most revered Historically Black educational institutions of its’ time, Howard University and the Hampton Normal and Agricultural Institute.
